The Maltese Goldfinch is back. After having been raided twice in the past year, Iowa's longest-running geocache was reestablished Jan. 20, 2002, and is in operation once again. The contents include: "Secret of the Yamas" book, mini water garden, sports card, Eternal Ink sticker, 3 skull rings, Isle of Capri key chain and, of course, a monk's bead. It is in an ammo box. There is a good uphill hike involved but no technical climbing needed. The park and area of the cache have great topography -- for Iowa. Standard Iowa disclaimers apply. It's buggy and weedy in the warm months, muddy in the wet months, frostbitten in the cold months. During winter, automobile access to the park is limited, so prepare for a longer walk.
