Where's George - Framingham is
a basic cache on a little used piece of Sudbury Valley Trustees
conservation land, with an optional little twist.
The cache is hidden off the main
trail in Gross Tracts, which is off Wayside Inn Road in northwest
Framingham. Henry's Hill is across the street and limited parking
is available around the Henry's Hill sign. Gross Tracts gets no
sign and the trail head is hard to see; it's on the east side of
the road, about 30 feet south of the Henry's Hill sign or almost
directly across from the kiosk.
Hike to the cache and then there's
the twist. Since geocachers like to track things (i.e. travel bugs)
this cache's theme is a similar tracking idea called Where's George
where dollar bills are tracked. Conveniently, dollar bills come
with unique serial numbers already on them. So to put them in play
a small message is stamped on the bill and the serial number is
entered into the system and then the bill is spent and sent on its
way.
Optional: to participate in
the theme of this cache, bring a dollar bill with you that you'll
mark using the "Where's George" stamp provided inside the cache
box. Then enter the serial number and spend the bill.
- Stamp the dollar you brought with you (see the alignment guide
for how to get the stamper aligned with your bill, however
I’ve found that the seal position on bills moves around so
getting a perfect impression is hit or miss)
- Enter your new bill at wheresgeorge.com
- Spend your bill, do not put it in a geocache.
- Log your find at geocaching.com; in your log entry record the
serial number of the dollar bill you stamped at the
cache.
Remember, the point of Where's George
is to track bills in normal circulation, not to pass them between
friends or from cache to cache. The cache is stocked with finder's
buttons and a few trade items too. Have fun!
