How Geocaching Works
This cache replaces an archived cache in the area (which was our first cache find)! It is one of three caches currently located in the 83-acre Big Rock Park. Sorry the cache name is more vague than clever, but I may need to shift the location slightly if creek muggles find this one, too. PARK IS OPEN SUNRISE TO SUNSET.
While Big Rock Central is practically a drive-by cache, this one is a pleasant hike from that same parking area (under 1/4 mi.) Trail signs are posted in the park to help you navigate; or you can print one out (see image gallery). The cache is NOT FAR FROM THE TRAIL, so you don't need to bushwhack or wade through Thunder Creek! Though it's near the south end of the park, take note of the park entrance coordinates to avoid traversing private property.
Nature Note: Not far from the cache is a giant 5-trunk linden (basswood) tree. Also notice the pea-sized, olive-colored linden berries along this part of the trail.
Cache container is a narrow ammo box.
