Located in Williams, Arizona on historic Route 66

The historic town of Williams, Arizona was founded in 1882 and was named after Bill Williams who led hunting trips in the area. Today, the town is one of the few remaining towns located on historic Route 66. Most of the nostalgic Route 66 was replaced by the Interstate highway system. Take some time to walk the streets of Williams and learn some of the interesting history.

PA travelers, caching in Arizona with Mrs. J Smith. Stayed in Williams while visiting the Grand Canyon by train, good experience. There was some construction going on while we were there. As we stood around checking the place out and taking some photos, the owner/operator came out and ask if he could help us. Said we were geocaching and found eveything we needed. Interesting place and not enough time to see everything. Between caching and collecting smashed pennies, we left Williams two hours later than planned. MJ TFTH

Jed and I from PA are here in AZ for the Grand Canyon Railroad tour. We enjoyed your state very much and this time of the year the weather was just right for "northern" people. It is cachers like you that give traveleres like us a chance to slow down and enjoy the towns we go through. Enjoyed learning about the town. E-mail sent. TFTC
