Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the Olympic Peninsula, WA. The views are great here of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island, Canada, across the water.

Ok we went on the hunt for this cache and saw what a beautiful area this was and such a great view we had to adopt this cache to keep it here. We place a new log book and goodies here for all to find. Good luck and happy hunting. Boy Scout Troop 500 from Sammamish, WA (Chief Seattle Council) placed this cache in one of their favorite places for a summer car camp.  Troop 509 (which grew out of Troop 500) has adopted it. Two other caches exist in the area, the Salt Creek Recreation Area, Cove View and Salt Creek/Striped Peak.  The Scouts wanted to place this cache in a place that all campers at Salt Creek Recreation Area could reach easily. The cache is placed along an easy trail that hugs the cliffs but has a protective wooden fence to keep you safe. The trail is across and near the main camp road at the bottom of the hill that has a historic World War II era gun bunker on it.  The cache is a Rubbermaid container with a white lid. Please be sure to sign the guest log.  Troop 509 returns to this camp each summer, and the Scouts would love to see who has found their cache. Please be sure to hide the cache well (as the scouts did) because it's only about 10 feet off the trail and almost in site of the camp road.  If you find the cache too visible in the fall and winter months, please cover it with either leaves or bark. The altitude is about 78', with wonderful views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca from the trail.
