Geocache Description:

This small cache (2" dia. x 3" lg.) is located a short distance from a trail in Mille Lacs Kathio State Park.
Connie and I placed this cache during our first camping trip of the season.

This is one of our favorite parks and it did not have a cache. Well, now it does.
This cache has been approved by the park manager.

The following excerpt is from the Mille Lacs Kathio State Park information brochure:

"French explorer Daniel Greysolon, Sieur duLhut (known today as Duluth), referred to the settlements here as "Izatys", his phoneticism of a Mdewekanton Dakotan word. This word has also been recorded as Issatis, Isanti, and Santee. An error in transcribing Duluth's journal for the publication of a major history book resulted in the word "Kathio," apparently through the reading of the letters Iz as K, and ys as hio. Regardless, Izatys, or Kathio, is the oldest village name preserved in the history of the state of Minnesota."

You will be parking very close the interpretive center, so if you have a chance, please visit.
A drive through this park usually produces abundant deer sightings and they are very photogenic.

FTF prize is an unactivated travel bug.
