Thomas Creek Bridge

How Geocaching Works
This cache is about the destination, I've met more than a few people who have asked if there was a good view of the bridge to get some pictures. I told them "yes there is, but....it's a little difficult to get to." This is about a 1.2 mile R/T with the final descent to the cache via a rope. I originally discovered a very brutish “trail” to the beach but much to my chagrin on my second trip back up I discovered the “gentleman’s trail.” You can choose either way and hence the terrain level of difficulty that you are in the mood for. (3.5 vss. 4.5) The two ways down start on different sides of the highway right by the bridge. The 4.5 starts on the water side of the bridge. The 3.5 starts on the other side of the highway directly east of the sign in the photo. Parking is at the Thomas Creek Bridge pullout off 101. This cache is hard but hey how often do you get a chance to log a 4.5 terrain? Good luck and have fun!
I’m sorry for all of the trash that you will witness along the way from motorists throwing crap off the bridge as they whiz across. Anyway, the beach itself is pristine and very photogenic. Low tide is a particularly good time for photo ops. On a good minus tide you can even walk around the point and log 'Rope-a-Dope' with only one hike up and down. Getting good coords was difficult on the day of the hide so the hint is pretty much a spoiler. Your gpsr may tell you that the cache is on the other side of the creek, it is not. You will be looking for a nicely swagged ammo can with 1st and 2nd finder's certificates.
