Located near the
Woodmont train station.
This is my first placement...I've been in TRAINING.
A quick find, close to the road, but DO NOT
pull over on Byberry Road! Park off road.
Cache container is a 6x12x1 red and white box… recycled pin-hole
camera. Sized for small TBs and coins.
This site is attractive only
in my memory.
Woodmont Station was an unmanned station on the old Reading
railroad Newtown line. No trains here for about 25 years.
In the late 1960’s this area was still farm land.
In the field by the station sat a beautiful old claw footed
bathtub.
I thought it was a very peculiar place for a tub. It was next to a
fence that ran along the tracks.
Its use was obvious to adults. My Mother told me the tub was for
the horses or cows that grazed in that pasture.
“But how do the
animals fit into the tub?” I wondered.
“How can they turn on the faucets to
bathe?”
"Does the train disturb their
baths?"
“ And why did someone put such a lovely tub in a pasture for their
animals?”
Stopped by the RR gate, sitting
in my Mom’s car, waiting for the train to cross and pondering the
claw footed tub...
It's long gone and there's a sidewalk where it sat.
Now Woodmont is a bunch of big houses and a little
cache.
