Geocache Description:

This cache is near the Animas Forks ghost town. If you've never been there, it is worth the trip.

Animas Forks is outside of Silverton, Colorado. Of all the really good ghost towns, this is one of the best because it is fairly easy to reach and has a number of buildings still standing. We placed this cache here because it complements in the Silverton and Howardsville caches. You can do all three in just a few hours time. The road up there is improved gravel, so you don't need 4WD.

Animas Forks can be a popular place with tourists, so we put the cache out of site behind the buildings. When placing it, we were surprised to find a mine ventilation shaft back there. The cache is NOT in the shaft, so don't go in. The cache is at 11,290 feet altitude.

Cache is a small, unique container about 4"x3"x1".
