A quick park 'n' grab with some history built into it.
Pull into spacious turnout for this fast lesson on local history.
The Ridge Route was built in 1915 and was the super highway of its
day. Perhaps this cache will whet your appetite for more history on
the Ridge Route. We have a series of caches on both the Southern
and Northern portions.
The junction of Interstate 5 and State Highway 126 is known as
Castaic Junction. Officially the Ridge Route was the 48 miles of
highway between Castaic Junction and the small settlement of
Grapevine to the north in the San Joaquin Valley.
Note that there is no parking at any time at the side of the
road, but the turnout is meant for viewing the historical plaque so
please pull fully into the turnout. Watch for nearby hotel muggles
and passing cars.

November 7 by DNis² (28 found) Fun find! And the history was good too!
[view this log] | November 1 by Birchland (291 found) Last find of the day after a hike out to the 1898 RR bridge and then Rancho Camulos for some oranges. Looks like most of our finds today were your hides YJ&D - so thanks for a fun day of hides :) There was a muggle parked facing away from the cache spot, but she probably thought we were just checking out the plaque. TFTC.
[view this log] | October 26 by psubrian (12 found) Cool find in the dark.
[view this log] | October 22 by colin&daddy (4036 found) Caching opportunities have been somewhat limited lately, so I needed a numbers-boosting run. This was my first stop, and first of several encounters with law enforcement units today: a K-9 unit was taking a rest stop apparently. He kept a wary eye on me while I read the plaque, then left the pullout. I made the grab, and then realised he must have called me in, as there was another unit parked across the street as I left. Watching? SL.
[view this log] | October 17 by Tehachapi Fords (1047 found) We could see the marker from our hotel, just a couple of hundred feet from our hotel room, so of course we had to go out and make the find. This made 20 finds for the day. We will work on more in the area in the morning when it is cooler. Thanks for all of the great caches, we found many of yours today.
