Futenma Cave and Shrine can be reached by taking an immediate right out of Camp Foster's Gate 6, also known as the American Legion Gate. The shrine will be on the right side of Highway 330. Parking is available very close to the cache site.
Locally called Futenma Gongen, this shrine is located in the central part of Futenma, Ginowan City. It is one of eight shrines built about five centuries ago by order of King Sho Kinpuku. There are two ornate gold-laced buildings that combine classic Japanese and Okinawan architecture.
Every year countless people pay visits to the shrine to pray for a variety of reasons. They may pray for the safety of family members or relatives who are soon to embark on long journeys. People also come to pray for the safe and easy deliveries of soon to be born babies.
For those special ceremonies, the Futenma Shrine is a famous place to hold traditional weddings, and during the New Year season it is crowded with people from all over the central region of Okinawa.
Behind the shrine itself is a large cave that is filled with calcium carbonate deposits formed over the centuries. Their eerie shapes add a primal element to the atmosphere of the subterranean worship chamber.
At the cave entrance sits a pair of stones symbolizing fertility, which is another reason people visit the shrine. Some believe that frequent visits to the shrine are efficacious for those couples who want but have not been able to have children.
The cave is much smaller than the one in Kin town, but it is more frequently visited by those pious Okinawans, mostly aged women, who still have a firm faith in the old, animistic beliefs of the Ryukyus.
If you visit the shrine, you may want to rinse your hands and drink the water at the entrance. It is believed that the water will purify your body and sprit.

This should be a very simple find, just look out for muggles.

Please be respectful as this is an active place of worship.

GOOD JOB LARCjpn ON THE FTF!!!

Found this one when stopping by the main Futenma Shrine for New Years. The main shrine was packed with muggles, but there was no one at all at the shrine with the cache. That made for an easy grab. TFTC!

Went to Futenma for New Years and and saw this was right next door.
Considering the number of muggles next door, I was surprised that no one was here.
Even the rain could not stop us from getting this one.
Coords were off, but the clue was useful.

This makes #75! This looks like it would be a super high muggle area, but it was absolutely empty at 10:30 am on a Thursday. Cache wasn't at posted coords, but the clue made this one easy. TFTC!!
