Girls in GeoCaching – October Meet & Eat (Ladies Night Out)
The October session will be held on October 8, 2007 at Red Lobster, 620 Thompson Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227. The 'meeting' will begin at 6:00 p.m. (Huge thanks to the manager who has made some special arrangements for us!)
A secret group of secret geocachers had a secret meeting to discuss a secret topic. (I wasn’t part of that – it was a secret.) They arranged for a dinner to be held at a secret location. (I was told the secret place.) It was decided at the secret dinner that monthly forums needed to be held to discuss feminine issues in Geocaching. (And maybe not so secret.)
Since women adore gathering en masse and dining, we decided that we needed a Meet & Eat. Since women adore gathering en masse and complaining about the opposite gender, we decided that we needed a place to gather where our spouses/significant others/boyfriends/sons/fathers/uncles/brothers/etc. wouldn’t hear us divulging our girlie caching techniques.
This includes, but it not limited to:
Caching during PMS: finding appropriate P&Gs near retail establishments that sell chocolate (Shouldn’t this be included as an attribute?)
The Menopausal Cacher: Is it a hot flash or have you contracted Lyme disease from that cache/hike last weekend? How to tell the difference.
Child Rearing & the Modern Caching Mom: Will the babysitter/school/daycare really know that you logged the two LPCs just around the corner from her house before picking up Junior?
Pregnant Caching: Yes! You can cache your way across the county. Many cache sites have nearby restrooms. A GPSr is no more harmful to a fetus than say a radio signal (disclaimer note: this is only my opinion! I am not a doctor nor do I purport to have any medical training whatsoever. ) Statistics have shown that a protruding belly makes a wonderful shelf to mount the suction holder for a GPS Receiver’s motor mount, the receiver will be just below eye level leaving your hands free for the searching.
Groceries & Caching: Hey! It’s not my fault that the ice cream melted while I checked every light pole in the grocery store parking lot. I mean, seriously, there’s no cache in that parking lot and it was crying out for a hide.
How to create a PQ for an errand route: Route, a noun, a customary series of stops during a trip. Running errands to the pharmacy, grocery store, daycare, and work IS a route and should be queried appropriately.
The above list is some of the issues that were brought up at the planning meeting. These were some of the ‘hot topics’ that we thought worthy of night of discussion. Feel free to jot down some ideas of issues that you, as a girlie cacher, have encountered. We’re always happy to whine & complain I MEAN DISCUSS any topic of interest.
