Past the Land of Chocolate Lilies where the
recent wild fires destroyed all signs of life, the first thing to return was the
California Poppies.
Located in Towsley Canyon Park, Park at the
Wiley trailhead on the left 1/4 mile inside the park. There
are many caches on the Wiley Canyon trail. If you are up for a nice hike there
are more at the top of the hill. At the top is Chocolate
Lilies. If you continue on the
trail it will lead you to The Return of the Poppies. The trail will bring you to
the back of Towsley Canyon park where a couple more caches are hidden. It is a
small walk from there back to the parking area at Wiley Canyon trailhead.
The cache is a 1.5 inch round by 8" long
camo container. If you haven't been up here before make sure you bring lot's of
water and good shoes since the full trip of gathering caches is about 6 miles
and about a 1300' gain in elevation.
Unfortunately
it is now a pay to park area. It is $5 a day to park. Make sure you pay or you
might get a $60 ticket.
HINT: If you park outside the gate it's free, it just adds about 1/2 mile to
your hike.
