allieballie: Constant rearranging and movement of the artworks means that I really have to archive this one as I'm not in a position to keep it updated. Sorry all [:(]

Geocache Description:

This cache was inspired by reading about a cache at the National Gallery in London where you have to go around and look at paintings to solve clues, and also by a cache at Cork Museum which I did over Easter - where you had to go in and find the answers from the displays.

You will have to go into the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (above co-ordinates are for the entrance) in order to find the answers to the questions below. Entrance is free (although you can make a donation should you so wish), but you may have to pay a fee should you wish to visit particular exhibitions whilst you are here. I have not set any of the clues in the exhibition galleries - all can be found in the permanent displays. Obviously because of opening times you will be restricted as to when you can solve the clues. Opening times are as follows:
10am-5pm daily. Thursdays 7pm.
Closed 25th, 26th December.
1st Jan 12pm-5pm.
There are also extended opening hours during the Edinburgh Festival - this year the gallery will be open from 1-31 August 10am-6pm. Thursdays 7pm.

Go up to the second floor.

Gallery 13

Find the Samuel Peploe at the end of the corridor showing flowers in a vase.

C = How many flowers in the vase?

Gallery 15

There are two Charles Rennie Macintosh paintings here. Look at the one on the right hand side.

F = How many letters in the name of the town?

There are two paintings by James Cowie. Look at the larger one.

G = How many white buttons on the cuff of the girl’s jacket?

Gallery 16

Find the Piet Mondrian

H = How many yellow squares?

Gallery 18

To the left of the Pablo Picasso painting is one of two Georges Braque paintings in this gallery

K = What value of centimes is painted in the middle of the picture?

Gallery 21

Find the Lucian Freud

P = The number in it’s title

The café on the ground floor serves good coffee and cakes if you want to go there to work the co-ordinates out!

In case any pictures are missing, this may help:

C + F + G + H + K + P = 21

Cache can be found at:

W 003 13. (H + 6) (3 + P) (C x G)

Cache contains an assortment of art and craft swaps - please try to keep this theme going.
