The new bridge replaced an old causeway but the causeway still has a use. Shouldn't be too hard to find in any weather but wear shoes with good gripping soles!
For many years the most northern route across the eastern border states crossed the old causeway. At first there was a toll taker, later the only delay was the span that opened to let boats pass through. The new bridge replaced all that but the remnants of the old causeway are still used by fishermen. Sometimes the parking lot is packed with trucks and trailers. Sometimes it's deserted. The cache is sheltered from the weather so you don't have to dig or fish for it!
Better late than never....All metal parts of this bridge are coated in grease so be warned! But you don't have to get dirty to retrieve it.
