If you're up for a challenging hike and beautiful views for many
miles around, you'll love this one. The cache is not in plain sight
and may be more difficult to find than the previous Devils Lake cache
The real reward of this hunt is the hike itself. If you have not
seen the view from these trails, you're in for a treat. Park at
N43°24.635 W089°42.668, then follow the CCC trail up the East
Bluff. At times the switchback trail will lead you in the opposite
direction of the cache but then it turns back to head for the
cache. This climb is not for small children or for the weak of
heart. However it is not a technical climb. You will not need
climbing gear to reach the cache -- just good hiking boots/shoes
and drinking water. You will most likely see many rock climbers, as
this is a very popular climbers location. Do NOT attempt this
during rain, snow, or approaching darkness. It will take you longer
than you think to reach the cache area. As with all geocaches, you
take full responsibility for seeking this cache. Good luck.
11/8/02: Here's an alternate trail you may wish to try: take the
Grotto Trail to the Potholes Trail and proceed uphill from
there.
4/16/05: I updated the spoiler photo. We recommend you print it
and stick in your pocket for this geocache. Pull it out only if you
can't find the cache.
5/6/2006:Replaced the previous container with an ammo box.
