The name of this cache was inspired by a story we came upon, unearthed by Richard Holland a North-East Wales ghost researcher.

The story is about two young lovers who came face-to-face with the so-called 'Floating Vicar'... The pair were walking down the Old Warren, Broughton, before the Chester bypass was built and the road led to Buckley. The road was heavily wooded and was frequented by courting couples in the 1930s when the following incident happened:-

‘Suddenly the couple spotted a figure coming towards them, taller than anyone they had seen before. A tall, thin, elderly man. He was dressed in black and wore a broad-rimmed hat but he was not walking; --- he appeared to be gliding. He passed the couple by without making a sound. He did not stop and neither did he change his forward-facing gaze to acknowledge the couple’.

Apparently the sister/sister-in-law of the couple (who subsequently married) also witnessed the same apparition whilst she was courting. She was standing by her future husband's motorbike and, while the pair were saying goodnight, the old man glided past. At the same time the motorbike's lights flickered on and off as he went by. Again the main description was that the man was very tall.

Well we can’t promise you’ll see the ‘Floating Vicar’ but you will be in his haunting ground so who knows? Maybe you shouldn’t do this one in the dark.

Tree cover could make GPS readings difficult but the above is a best estimate based on several readings.
