Het Paradijsje/Little Paradise (Chirp disapeared) Multi-cache

This cache has been enhanced with Garmin Chirp technlogy.

Without Chirp support you can also do this cache of course, with a bit of searching at one spot.

The first Chirp enabled cache in the middle and east of Brabant and north and middle Limburg This will give you the clue of one of the waypoints without having to find it yourself. Delivered to your doorstep if you have a Garmin GPS with Chirp support (you might have to update your firmware). Don't forget to enable your Chirp reception!

This cache is written in het Nederlands and in english.

De wandeling is heen en terug ong. 3.6 km. The walk, there and back again, is about 3.6 km.

Accessible at all hours, but forest rules state not allowed between dusk and dawn.

‘Het Paradijsje/Little Paradise’ Dit is een cache gemaakt om er lopend van te genieten. Blijf op de paden, alleen voor de cache en een waypoint hoef je een heel klein stukje van de paden af. Sommige gebruikers hebben moeite met WP3, maar zoek laag en overwin!

Deze tocht loopt door een klein natuurgebied ‘De Tungeler wallen’ (Stichting Natuurmonumenten), een mooi stukje Limburgse natuur waar je je ver genoeg buiten de bewoonde wereld waant. Het gebied bestrijkt ong. 45 hectaren dennenbos, afgewisseld met stukjes heide en stuifzand. Onze zus/schoonzus noemt dit voor haar kinderen 'het Paradijsje'. Zoals ze zeggen: 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'.
Kortom: een afwisselende zoektocht!
De wandeling is ‘there and back again’ ong. 3.6 km. In de open stukken vind je roofdieren zoals de mierenleeuw en een aantal graafwespen. In de bossen vind je misschien cachers. Ook schijnen er veel sprinkhanen te zitten, al hebben we nog nooit het plezier gehad deze in grote getalen te ontmoeten. De open stukken worden door natuurmonumenten regelmatig onderhouden om deze ook open te houden. In de stroken heide tussen deze vlakten en de bosrand groeien zeldzame mossen, zoals IJslands mos. Ook aan vogels is trouwens geen gebrek hoor. Kortom: een vrolijk stukje opmerkelijk afwisselende natuur, lekker om door te cachen.

   Je hebt hier een zandstrook aan de rand van het bos om je wagen/fiets/reserveschoenen te parkeren.
   
2. Heb je je goed aan de parkeercoördinaten gehouden vind je binnen een paar meter een paal met een bord eraan. Daarbij staat ook een paaltje met routemarkeringen (een ruiterpad, hoefjes).
   Als je nog op de straat staat: hoeveel stammen ontspringen er uit de boom rechts van deze paal. Ook een dubieus samenhorende stam telt mee. Dit is A.

5. Onderweg naar WP4 loop je langs een klein stukje open grond waar je nog resten ziet van betonnen constructies en putten (nu met metalen deksels) aan de randen van deze plek. Ook tussen de bomen in de buurt vind je soms stenen resten van gebouwen. Hier hebben in de oorlog barakken gestaan waarin Nederlanders in kampvorm werkten voor bezet Nederland, in de hoop niet naar Duitsland te worden gestuurd. De afloop hiervan is ons niet bekend. Na de oorlog hebben hier een behoorlijk aantal Molukse gezinnen tijdelijk onderdak gevonden uit protest voor verhuizing naar gewone woonwijken met de gedachte naar Ambon terug te kunnen keren. De bijnaam ‘het Ambonezenkamp’ heeft deze plek nog steeds.

Veel plezier! Team L² ‘Little Paradise/Het Paradijsje’ This cache is made for walking and enjoying. Don’t stray from the given paths, only for finding one waypoint and the cache you need a few meters extra. Some users find WP3 a bit troublesome: search low and prosper!

This trail is set in a small nature protected area named ‘De Tungeler Wallen’ (by Natuurmonumenten, a dutch organisation protecting natural habitat). It is but a small patch of Limburgian nature, but we think you will enjoy the solitude of it. The area encompasses about 45 acres of wood (mostly fir), to be intervened by patches of heathland and sanddunes. Our sister/sister-in-law calls this place 'Little Paradise' when playing there with her children. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You will be able to enjoy them all!
The walk, there and back again, is about 3.6 km. In the open areas you’ll be able to find mini-predators like the ‘mierenleeuw’ (lions-ant) and some diggerwasps (which will both be quite an incorrect translation). In the woodlands you’ll maybe find a cacher:) It is documented that a lot of locusts reside there also, but we have never had the pleasure of meeting them in numbers.
De open areas are maintained to further remain open areas (removing undergrowth e.a.). In the patches of heathland and woodland borders some rather rare mosses grow, the Iceland variant being the rarer. Birds you’ll see (or rather hear) a lot of also. In short: it will be a nice trip to remember (we hope), and enjoy your cache hunt!

5. When striding to WP4 you’ll pass a small open spot of ground where you can see concrete construction leftovers and wells (now with metal lids on them) on the borders of this area. The same you can spot between the trees surrounding it.In the second world war dutch men worked in campments for the enemy forces, in their small hope not to be sent to Germany. We don’t know how it ended for these people.
   After the war a rather large number of Moluck (incorrect translation) people found a shelter to protest them being moved into dutch rural areas in their hope to return to Ambon in the future. The nickname ‘the Ambonese camp (‘het Ambozenkamp’) has remained since then.
