Wine/Whine GeoCACHEathon Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dadbo: This was a wonderful event to see so many cahcers out and about, new caching teams formed, new cachers learning the ropes, old cachers with renewed enthusiasm, and all having fun. I won't forget this one! Sure hope we can do something like this again.

Geocache Description:

We are go for launch! The Wine/Whine GeoCACHEathon is a go!

Come one, Come all, to the

- First Santa Barbara County -
Wine Country GeoCACHEathon

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Caching through the wineries and vineyards of Northern Santa Barbara County, meeting cachers from all over, talking about the latest practices in caching, celebrate Flag Day and other events, it doesn't get much better than that, and a great Father's Day weekend activity too!

The Live Oaks Music Festival is in the valley 13-15th, and Old Santa Ynez day is the 14th; just to add to the fun.

This will be a fantastic full day of geocaching fun for all ages.

From start to cake, the fun will last through to the last goodbye, followed by prizes at the meet and greet. There will be a kids cache find to teach the ropes, a demo cache and discussion for newbies, a power trail, cake and ice cream social (maybe a hotdog roast too), and many opportunities for local caches for the bigger kids. Can't come out for the entire day, no problem, everyone is welcome!

Gathering 8:00am - 9:00am,
This is a free event, there will be no fees.

GeoCACHEathon: 9:00am – 6:00pm
The opportunity for new published local caches will be unveiled on the day of the event. Specific cache locations will be revealed at gathering prior to 9:00.

Power Trail 9:00am - (in 10 minute increments)
Expect a Power Cache run to take approximately one hour.

Kids Cache 10:00am - 5:00pm
This will be a cache course set in the park for the youngest in heart. But they will still need a GPSr or a grown ups help.

New Cachers Demo and Discussion 10:30am - 11:30am
For those new to caching you can "learn the ropes" with a little discussion and find in the park.

Caching tools (GSAK,etc.) Discussion 1:00pm - 3:30am
What strings do you use in GSAK, Queries vs. database, paperless caching, has anyone seen the Colorado and WhereIgo?.

"Meet and Greet" Cake and Ice Cream Social 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Prize Announcements 7:00pm

As the event will be on
Flag Day,
we will honor
"Old Glory"
with a cake and ice cream "meet and greet" to announce the prize winners!
And a hotdog BBQ too!

Bring food and drink for the day
(or partake of the great area eateries),
as well as a big smile, and something for the prize cache!
