Geocache Description:

Small offset cache located in Hertfordshire farmland.

The cache consists of a 1 liter plastic cylinder with internal dimensions of 85mm x 140mm wrapped in a dark bag. Initially it is fairly packed. There should be no problem getting a good GPS signal at the starting point as it is out in the open. Although the terrain is easy, at wet times of the year, surrounding paths can be quite muddy and depending on what route is taken, there are places where if one fell over, one would return home smelling strongly of cows!!! Some routes are better than others.

You'll need to collect some data first to find the cache. The given coordinates will take you to the end of a long manmade structure with a barrier on each side.

Count on one side only, the number of supports that fix the barrier to the structure. This number is XY and is less than 50. From the center of this structure, on a clear day it is possible to see a building that is related to the first part of the cache name. Look roughly in a direction of ESE. Use XY to calculate the next coordinates as follows:

N 51 4X.XY4 W 000 X(Y-1).5(Y+1)(X+1)

At this location is a sign. Using Aa=1, Bb=2, Cc=3 etc, construct the number PQRST as the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th & 12th letters (ignoring spaces). The name on the sign is related to the second half of the cache name. The coordinates of the cache are at:

N 51 PX.RX(S-Q) W 000 X(Y-Q).S(S+T)(R-Q)

The cache is located less than 400m from the original coordinates. Watch out for barbed wire in the cache vicinity, which might be less visible in the summer when there is more vegetation growing. From near the location of the cache, it may be possible to see an electricity generating device.
