This is a very simple multi. The given coordinates bring you to the summit of Notch Mt., complete with picnic tables! From the tables, head West about 250 feet, to the summit and a very big very dead oak tree. The cache is a small lockable container hidden in the oak.
Notch Mountain has an outstanding 180 degree view and is such a pleasant walk to get to. The walk from car to summit is 1.27 miles and gains 550 feet elevation. The mountains to the North are Burnt Meadow (closer, with cliff face and talus slope), and Pleasant Mt. in the distance. Right in front of you is Bill Merrill Mt. Little Clemons Pond is directly below the summit and Big Clemons Pond is to it's left. When you walk to the actual cache you will go by another, slightly different vista.
I want to thank all the snowmobile clubs that maintain trails and publish maps. Darius Road is a lovely woods road to walk on, and I assume hunters use it and drive in with their high trucks. But I am looking for a walk so parked just off Rt. 160, on the end of Darius Rd. There is no room to pull over, so I don't recommend parking right on Darius during hunting season. The other end of Darius Rd. goes right through someone's yard, legal but not very polite, so I do not recommend it. Parking B is just bit south of Darius Rd. where the snowmobile trail comes out on 160. The snowmobile trail will join up with Darius Rd. before the cemetery, but it is not as nice to walk on (overgrown, rough, and wet in one spot). You could park here then just walk to Darius Rd. At this point in time, I know of no good place to park when there is snow on the ground and the plows have gone through. So, in the winter you will need a snowmobile.
