This multicache will give you a brief tour of the ROCKY Fork Conservation Area, which was part of a coal strip mine several decades ago. *** A MOUNTAIN BIKE WOULDN'T HURT ON THIS ONE!!! ***
Rocky Fork is located North of Columbia, just off of 63 highway. It is adjacent to Finger Lakes State Park and is accessible by the same road. Both parks were part of the Peabody Coal mines and would have resembled a bleak moonscape at that time. What you see now is quite different.
 Finger Lakes SP is nice, but we like Rocky Fork a lot better. The lake is good for fishing and camping. There are a few MDC service roads (which look like old truck routes for the mine,) an old railroad bed, and a shooting range. There is a good mix of rough, open land and dense, heavy-fight brush and trees.
You shouldn't have to do too much bushwhacking, relative to the distance your going to have to walk. There is one post at (1.25" sq x 3' long) WP1 with a brass plate attached containing the next coordinates.
WP2 will be a brass tag with coordinates to WP3 on a piece of aluminum about four inches long, is hidden under the edge of a rock and has more rocks on top of it. It should be easier to find now, but getting back into this area is a bush whack for sure. .
It is going to take you at least 30 minutes total of walking to get the first two.
Now might be a good time to go back to the car and drive closer to the third stop instead of bushwhacking... hint hint... nudge nudge.
The third stop is the cache.
