Dans les années 1930 les gens de la place utilisaient l’énergie de la rivière Port-au-Persil pour alimenter une petite scierie ici ou ils fabriquaient les planches pour leurs granges. En 1944 mon arrière-grand-oncle, Duncan McLaren, est mort lors d’un accident affreux à cette scierie. Suite à cet accident la scierie a été fermée en permanence, et aujourd’hui il reste seulement quelques pièces de ferronnerie rouillée (waypoint Scierie/sawmill).
La cache est maintenant située sur le Chemin McLaren qui mène au quai. Vous y retrouverez encore mes initiales que comme enfant j'ai gravé dans le beton encore frais en 1955. Après avoir trouvé la cache, traversez les roches pour vous rendre à la petite chapelle presbyterienne fondée par mes ancêtres écossais en 1897.
[English]A beautiful spot well worth the short detour off the 138.
In the 1930s the locals used the energy from the Port-au-Persil river to run a small sawmill at this spot to cut planks for their barns. In 1944, my great-great-uncle Duncan McLaren was killed in a horrific accident at this sawmill. After this accident the mill was closed permanently, and today only some rusted remnants can still be seen (waypoint Scierie/sawmill).
The cache is now located along Chemin McLaren which leads to the wharf. You can still see my initials which I carved into the fresh cement as a child in 1955. After you have found the cache, take a stroll along the rocks to see the little Presbyterian chapel which was founded by my Scottish ancestors in 1897.
