Chop & Stamp Geocache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hemlock: Cache owner,

This cache was approved as a physical cache. When a cache box disappears, the options are to archive the listing or to replace the box. If the location can no longer be accessed, the only option is to archive the listing. Attempting to make changes yourself circumvents the review process.

If the cache meets the guidelines for virtual cache I would be happy to review a new submission for a virtual. Keep in mind that the guidelines specifically state, "A trail is a trail, a beach is a beach, a view is a view; but a trail/beach/view is NOT a virtual cache." I think it is unlikely that a virtual cache will be approved here.

You can find the complete Cache Listing Requirements and Guidelines here: http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at hemlock@geocachingadmin.com or go to your cache page and email me via the link to my profile on the log entry. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GCxxxx number, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for the understanding.

Geocache Description:

Terrain is flat and paved. Climb is slightly steep on some parts, but levels off for a little bit before going up again.

READ THE LATEST UPDATE for this cache before attempting to do this cache.
The original cache was a micro cache and the original instructions are posted here for informational purposes only. The coordinates listed are to the original cache site. Use the coordinates as a REFERENCE ONLY! If you decide to proceed to the cache coordinates, you do so at YOUR OWN RISK.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING to the cache coordinates.
READ the LATEST UPDATE listed at the bottom!

Original cache reads:This cache has a theme. Bring a chop or seal and stamp it into one of the cut up note cards in the tin box. Feel free to use BOTH sides of the note card for your log and seal/stamp. Put your completed card at the bottom of the deck. I may decide to post scans of the seals? The cache is an Altoids Tin with the name of the cache and a seal affixed to the lid. This is primarily for logging the find and affixing your stamp on the note cards - no trades please. Bring your own pen and ink to stamp and write. This cache is on Sandpiper Street that passes through a "ghost town" in Playa Del Rey. Park at Waterview Street or on Manitoba Street. The airport bought up all the land and turned the place into a combination nature preserve and place to put some of their radio gear. It is a little spooky. The spoiler is such a give-away that you don't even need a GPS to find it, so be forewarned. Heed the warning signs. Do not climb over the fence! The area is secluded, but joggers, bikers, and the homeless have been known to use this road for beach access.

What is a Chop?

UPDATE 3/31/04:
I've decided to turn this cache into a virtual cache. To find out why, you will have to visit the site. At the corner of Pershing and Sandpiper there are two identical signs on a metal post (the same signs are found at the other side - corner of Vista Del Mar and Sandpiper). Email me what that sign says to claim a find for this cache. As long as you stay on the Pershing side of the road, you should be fine. I have the cache and all the logs for the original cache. Eventually I'll find a new place for the cache. Finders of the original cache may not log a find for this cache.
