Manasquan Inlet, the northern tip of the intercoastal waterway, is over 75 years old and is a popular place for fishermen and boaters. Along the Manasquan Inlet is Loughran Point Park, where you can go fishing, crabbing and picnicking. At this park there is also a Fisherman's Memorial with a statue of a fisherman and plaques to honor all those who were lost at sea. Fisherman's Memorial watches over the fishing vessels who leave every day, and hopefully return. For those who don't, the Memorial stands tall for them, always there with a guiding light.
A plaque nearby reads:
Dedicated to the memory of Councilman Thomas F.K. Loughran, a strong advocate of the publics right of free access to the waterfront.
Acquired from the Federal Government to be used as a public park in perpetuity.
Also listed is the phrase "A great place to wet a line".
