It's that time again! Join us for a picnic on the lawn!
POTLUCK LUNCH TO BEGIN AT 11AM!
Closest to the pin contest starts at 12:30PM!
That's right, fellow cachers. Brad has been given the job of Head Interpreter at Indiana Dunes State Park. Therefore, we will be moving. HOPEFULLY, we will still be here to do this picnic! So, I want to take this opportunity to gather with my caching family, and say goodbye to those that welcomed us with open arms.
We welcome everyone outdoors for the 2nd Annual Summer Picnic at Wing Haven Nature Preserve. Wing Haven is a 260+ acre historic property with wooded ravines, prairies, 7 (count them 7!) lakes, and the old homestead site of Ben and Helen Swenson.
Lunch will be a potluck lunch in front of the homestead stables and log barn. Tables and electricity will be available for crock-pots. Prepare for a picnic-style lunch, so pack your silverware, plates, drinks, and lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the lunch will move to the Cabin Studio located 100 feet away.
Parking is available at either parking lot to the preserve. Though, one is much closer. Feel free to park along the drive entrance road if it is full, but please don't park in the circle drive to the caretaker's house.
A cleverly hid event cache will be available on the property for cachers to seek out. Also, a closest to the pin contest is planned for the meadow area accross from the parking lot. The usual Travel Bug/Sig Item trade table will also be available. (In addition to the TB Hotel located 20 feet away from event.)
Please post any food details that you can so others can plan their dishes accordingly. We will try to list them for easy viewing. Last-minute and unannounced cachers will also be welcome - if you don't post an RSVP, you can still come; the more the merrier!
