Geocache Description:

A great little walk up an old FSR - a few hundred meters, ***As a Note we are no longer putting in Caches to be put out in this cache**

We came about this location by accident - we were working on a cache and had a cordinate wrong and it resulted in leading us here. A very neat place, if you continue on for about 20 meters (around the trees) you'll also find an old abandoned Volvo from about 30 years ago. We reccomend exploring around to the other trails in here and seeing what else they hold!

Now for the humorous part of how we got here, you see Kris does data analysis for work, you would think she can do simple subtraction - her goal was to subtract 9-6 and she got 2. Well we worked it all out and the coordinates landed us right by a trail, we figured wow - like 25 meters from the trail on the gps - so it must be correct. Unfortunately when we put in wrong coordinates they never lead us to another country. We get to the trail, walk up it and figure yes the cache placer - this is his territory. Perfect - so we enjoy our walk til we get to about 30 meters away - and end up "bushwhacking" through the forest to try to find the cache thinking - ummm this isnt their style. Then Kris checks her coordinates again - yes correct.

Still doesn't make sense - then she starts doing the math again - looking up sheepishly at Jordy shes goes.. oops um try changing this number - and low and behold it's 12.1 km away - Jordy looks at the map and goes ohhhh I know exactly where that tree is. It happened to be where we started the adventure that night. So we had to come back in memory of that great adventure - and share this really neat spot with you - we think fate directed us here.

If you're doing waymarking - we've added the car on their as a waymark as well.. : So enjoy!

You will see a private property sign - This cache is allowed as it is on Mission Municpal Forest Land - please read below for explanation - we have permission to use this area. We just recieved a reply from the Mission Municipality and have permision to enter the forest.

Subject: Geocache Placement on West Access Road - Permission

Yes, there is a new sign saying ‘no trespassing, private property’. We found that people were frequently dumping garbage in front of this gate or breaking the gate so we are attempting to make the area look more like private property to discourage these wrongful activities.

However, the forestry status of the area as municipal forest land is still the same and we have no concerns at all with people walking up this forestry road to find the geocache that you have described.

We actually think this is a good, positive, recreational use of the forest so you have permission to carry on for this purpose. On the webpage describing this geocache, you will need to let the geocache searchers know that in this particular case, it is OK for them to walk along this forestry road regardless of the no trespassing sign. There is no other road/trail access to this area.
Thanks. Kim Allan
