Östra Ryd's Church dates back to the 14th century. In 1449 the walls and vaults were decorated with lime paintings by Johannes Iwan. The church got it's current appearance between 1690 and 1693, by Nils Brahe who owned Rydboholm castle, which is situated near the church.
