Geocache Description:

THIS CAHE IS NOT AT THE COORDINATES LISTED ABOVE!!

If you've found a cache in Oregon, you've probably seen "Glenmart" on the log sheet before you!

Oregon's most prolific geocachers deserve Oregon's most prolific cache series: 16 caches placed across the state to help them celebrate their 4th annual reign as Oregon's leading cachers.

Glenmart

From their first cache, GC9D2F Wood Man See by NMartin on 6 August 2003, to their last cache, GC..., well..., we really don't know what their last cache is, because they are probably somewhere signing a log while you're reading this! This wonderful couple, Glen & Martha, collectively known as Glenmart, have woven their way into the hearts, and cache logs, of untold hundreds of geocachers. If there's ever been anyone who, as the saying goes, "never met a stranger," it's these fine folk. So cachers from all over Oregon have banded together for a tribute, a very special tribute, to two very special people!

We asked the home organization for their area, Salem Area Geocachers Association (OregonSAGA.com) to tell us some of their more memorable Glenmart stories. Spencersb replied, "I remember going after a particular cache out west of Salem that was a rare combination that I needed for my Fizzy. Kensquach and I arrived and knew right where to look immediately: an old, hollow, but still about 20 foot tall tree. Of course, it was all the way at the top, and required a moderate bit of monkey climbing. I finally get wedged between the main trunks, and go to sign the log. What do I see? The same thing a lot of us see at nearly every cache we go to: GLENMART ON THE LOG SHEET!

Salmondan recalls: "Several years ago Glen had some serious health problems and had surgery at OHSU. 3 weeks after surgery they went up there to have his staples removed. On the way home they STOPPED FOR A CACHE! Animals."

Countrygirl said: "I remember one day I get to a cache and there is Martha hanging over the side of a bridge! 'Oh my,Martha! Be careful!' She reached down, and came up with the container. "Cool! Sign my name too!" I sure am glad I didn't have to climb down there! I hope I stay as sure footed as this lady. I always say that geocaching keeps me out and about. I see it keeps us young too

Korat said, "The pursuit of a FTF is a big deal. tirebyter and I were after a couple at Camp Adair. We got to the first one only to see we were beaten by Glenmart. We continued on the longer way while they headed back to their car and drove to the other end. As we approached less than 500' away we spotted Glenmart coming out of the bushes! If only I had decided to start at the other end first! Another time I was looking for almost 10 minutes when they showed up, thinking I had already found it. I said that I had not, so they joined in the effort. In a short while, they came up with the prize. But I have also had the pleasure of getting a call from them seeking a lifeline on a cache I found before they did. LOL-that is a satisfying feeling!"

THIS CACHE IS NOT AT THE COORDINATES LISTED ABOVE WHICH ARE PRIVATE PROPERTY!! DO NOT GO THERE!

ALL HAIL GLENMART!!!!!! To seek the final of this cache you must visit at least 10 of the 17 Best in the West caches dedicated to Glenmart. The high difficulty rating reflects the time it will take to complete this. You will be driving all over Glenmart's territory (what isn't their territory??) I think we all know who is going to be the FTF here. If you should decide to beat Glenmart for that honor you can get your name on the log first, but the FTF prize will not be in the cache as it is reserved for this mighty duo. THE FINAL CACHE IS LOCATED AT THE COORDINATES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS CACHE PAGE.
