[LT] Talšos ežeras yra yra 1km nuo Šiaulių miesto centro, šalia Šiaulių simbolio Saulės berniuko ir senųjų miesto kapinių. Ežero plotas – 56,2 ha, ilgis – 2 km, didžiausias plotis – 550 m. Per ežerą prateka Mūšos intakas Kulpė, įteka Rūdė. Įdomi ir vingiuota šio ežero istorija. Jis nuo seno buvo vadinamas Talšos vardu nuo žodžio telžti (liet.sroventi,šlapinti), o ne nuo telkšoti. Kalbininkų siūlomą naujadarą Talkša šiauliečiai iš karto atmetė kaip svetimybę. Kovų su kalavijuočiais laikais pelkė, kurioje dabar tyvuliuoja ežeras, atliko svarbią gynybinę funkciją. Per ją iš Šaulių kalnelio buvo nutiesta kūlgrinda į rytinį krantą link Salduvės. Buvimas miesto centre savo laiku Talšos ežerui daugiau pakenkė nei padėjo. XVIII a. Šiauliuose sparčiai ėmus vystytis pramonei, užtvenkus Kulpės upelį buvo pastatytas vandens malūnas ir manufaktūra, Gubernijos alaus darykla ir dvaras.. XIX a. pabaigoje prie Talšos įsikūrė Ch.Frenkelio odų fabrikas, o į Talšą sutekėdavo ne tik odos gamybos ir greta esančio Kalniuko rajono atliekos, bet ir nevalyta Šiaulių miesto lietaus kanalizacija. Šiandien aplinkinius jau masina sutvarkytos ežero pakrantės, kuriose tiek šiltuoju, tiek šaltuoju metu laiku galima sutikti ir seną, ir jauną.

[EN] Talsa lake is about 1km from the center of Siauliai, next to the symbol of Siauliai – Sun boy and the old cemetery. Area of the lake 5,62ha, length 2km, width 550m. In the lake passes through a tributary of the Musa Kulpe, drains Rude. This lake has an interesting history. It has long been known as Talsa on behalf of the word stale. Language proposers invented Talksa, although Siauliai immediately dismissed it as strange. In the times of sword fights ,swamp, which now lies a lake, made an important defensive function.
