Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Zebulon Pike, credited with "finding" Pike's Peak, never actually made it to the top, and in fact, predicted that no one ever would.
Of course, now you can drive to the top. The difficulty and terrain ratings are as they are simply because you need to be careful when you do go up the peak, drive carefully, and drink water as you go. It is at an altitude of 14,110 feet so you are at risk of altitude sickness.

At the coordinates you have a fantastic view. If you face in a southerly direction you'll be faced with a huge bronze plaque (bigger than you). To claim the find simply post a photo of yourself and your GPS in front of the plaque. Please don't use an old vacation photo or something, make it a new one in the spirit of Geocaching.

The plaques have now been replaced in their spot and have been completely refurbished. They are even more beautiful than they were before. They even colorized them in spots, and buffed them up very nicely.

They told us before we took the train up that a jacket would be good-enough. Well once we got to the top it was 30 below with the wind. Me and my son ran out to take a picture. it was freezing. I wish it would have beena little warmer so we could have enjoyed the view a little more than we did.

We almost did not make it to the top today as the Cog Wheel Train did not know if it would be able to go to the top as the winds were 50-60 MPH. We lucked out and were allowed about 40 minutes on the top. Very windy and cold, but the view was worth it. TFTVC!

Have to post the DNF. No trains to the summit for the 2 days prior to our visit. Made it to the "cut" right at 12,000 feet. Fired up the GPS at the top but couldn't get a signal until 11, 683. Like Zeb, maybe it wasn't in the cards. Gotta love mother nature. Thanks for the Cache!
