Geocache Description:

Another cache in the "Poplar Creek Bike Trail" series. It's a Lock'N'Lock in an area near a creek where the beavers live.

I noticed that the Poplar Creek Bike Trail doesn't really have many caches nearby that are easily accessible from the trail - so I thought I'd start adding a few. The goal of the series is encourage folks to get out on the trail, by bike or on foot, and enjoy this nice forest preserve, rather than just going for park'n'grabs.
The hides are not all quick bike'n'grabs, though, and in the summer you can expect to have to wade through some tall grasses and/or somewhat scratchy undergrowth, so dress accordingly (bike shorts may not be the ideal attire).

Somehow this piece of forest always seems dark and dingy to me, so I thought I'd brighten it up with a cache. This area seems to get pretty wet, but I hope I found a spot that won't get waterlogged. And actually once you're in the woods here, it's a pretty interesting place.
If you walk a little bit further down the creek you can see a pretty nice beaver den on the other side of the creek, and you can find evidence of their work all over the place, incl. the fallen tree right by the bridge where you leave the trail.

If you decide to ride your bike around the trail, check out my Bike'N'Bench Loop cache, which will take you around the whole 8.9-mile loop.
