As you approach this cache, note the concrete patterns in the roadway about 1/4 mile before the cache or after the cache depending on your direction of approach.
This stretch of highway where the cache is placed was taken out of commission as Hwy 151 back in 1976. It was replaced by a modern two lane highway called a "Super 2" at that time. That new stretch of highway was a two lane highway until the 1990s. It is where the existing highway is today.
US highway 151 begins near Dubuque, Iowa then stretches to Dodgeville, runs through downtown Madison, then towards Fond du Lac and Manitowoc for its northernly most point.
This highway at its inception in 1926 was designed to be an easy connection between Fond du Lac and Madison. Today it is a major highway vital to commerce and everyday living to the cities it passes.
As you look out from the cache location you see the existing highway as it was completed in the late 1990's as a four-lane highway with freeway speed limits.
I think the view here is neat and I thought this bit of road held as the cache title says, a bit of useless trivia!
