HOOKED ON CACHING
Finding a fish can be easy, hooking them is usually harder. The same applies to these caches. All caches are conveniently located within Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area. The caches in this series are tougher hides, with a variety of container sizes and shapes. Some may require special retrieval tools, some may require a monkey and some an acute geo sense. Please replace the hides exactly as you found them, making sure to seal and close any lids properly and do not replace any “missing” cache containers without contacting us first.
Great care has been taken to place all of these caches. Please be aware of any muggles (onlookers) when replacing the containers and try to be as discreet as possible to eliminate any potential issues with the containers being muggled (snatched up or destroyed). Please practice good Cache In, Trash Out (CITO) etiquette and remove any trash you may observe.
Please follow all posted park rules including only parking in designated parking areas, do NOT just pull over next to each cache. I have marked a few larger parking areas and other useful waypoints on the 1st cache of the series: Here Fishy Fishy 01: Welcome (GC5ZKNH), but there are several more located throughout the entire park.
**A massive upgrade and restoration to the lake and shoreline will begin in August 2015. The park and lake will remain open for public use during the upgrade. All caches should still be accessible and we will frequently be checking in as we are very excited to see the project progress.
The cache is not located at the posted coordinates!
You will need to answer the following question correctly to find the correct cache location.
QUESTION: Found on the Iowa DNR website, identify the following lake map. Use the 1st letter of the lake name to determine the correct coordinates.
ANSWER:
- A-I, N 42° 07.403 & W 091° 50.301
- J-P, N 42° 07.787 & W 091° 49.130
- Q-Z, N 42° 07.437 & W 091° 50.768
(BYOP) Please bring a pen with you as many containers are not large enough to hold one. Tweezers may also come in handy.
Please observe park hours and only cache during park hours which are 4am to 10:30pm.
