A Slice of Thanks and Julia Child Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

tealeaf: No need to keep this open. Thanks to all who came and interrupted their Thanksgiving prep. Special thanks to those who shared a recipe. Those who didn't can always join Tom at McDonald's. The December event will be New Year's Eve but will end early enough for those who want to celebrate with more glitter, live bands and dancing. Sywy will be hosting and carrying on the white elephant tradition (the previous white elephanters will be out of town.) See you there.

Geocache Description:

This is our recurring meet n greet at the Mario's on 4th St. NW. We meet on the last Wednesday of each month from 5:30 until about 8 pm. If you are a regular, you know the drill. If you are new or just passing through, come have some fun with local cachers...

We have the room at the back and order off the menu so you can eat as much or as little as you want.  They do not have a problem with separate checks. Beer and wine are available and it's family friendly.  Please sign up by Monday the 24th so we can give a head count to the restaurant.

Thanksgiving is the kickoff to a season of food. We know from potluck events that there are a lot of cachers who cook as well as they cache. SandiaFamily was asked for a recipe and graciously brought handouts. We think we can expand on that. Put your favorite recipe in your "will attend" log (if you're a low-life who habitually dithers on RSVP-ing, put it in your attended log. If you don't cook, share where you get good takeout.

To start it off, we were asked about our pulled pork at the Cerrillos Hills event. So easy it's barely a recipe. We used 10 lbs of pork butt (most any cut will do as will beef) Put it in a crockpot. Pour in a whole bottle of Claud's Marinade. Available at most grocery stores. We like the mesquite flavor but they all work. Cook on low for 10 hours. Pour off the liquid to get rid of most of the fat. If it seems too dry, add some more Claud's. That's it.
