Goose Island Traditional Cache
3fros: Come on people we could use a little patience here! Sure if you only look at the dates it seems like a long time, but this is a 5-STAR terrain cache because you have to take a boat out to it. Just because you want to get all your gear out and go out in the middle of the winter to look for it doesn't mean I want to (the last posts before 3 days ago were in December). It only recently got warm enough to go paddling. I went out there tonight to babysit the cache and couldn't find it so I'm archiving it.

This is a hydro-cache and is rated a 5 for terrain because you will need a boat. I don't think gasoline powered boats are allowed on the lake, but I did see someone with an electric motor on their boat so I'm sure that's not a problem. I used my kayak, but a canoe or raft should work well also.
A good place to launch your boat is at N47° 47.060', W122° 19.582'.
Finding a way onto the Island is the hard part. I went clockwise around the Island and entered the Island at N47° 46.943' W122°19.834'. After placing the cache I found an easier location to get onto the Island, but I don't know if it is possible to get to the cache from that location. The secondary location is at N47° 46.978' W122° 19.850', you can take your chances if you want.
Once I got onto the Island I walked about 15' away from a goose nest that had a half dozen eggs or so in it. The mother was in the lake and not on the nest, but I didn't go near it. Please keep far enough away from nest to not disturb the mother if she is near.
I took 3 readings at the cache location and they were all exactly the same so it should be pretty accurate.
The cache is along a trail, but the trail can be difficult to navigate with all of the brush.
The cache is kind of on the boating/camping/summer fun theme, but trade however you want. It starts out with a float for keys, a pop can cooler, a beach ball, a package of hand warmers, a whistle, swim goggles, Screen protectors for a Meridian, a micro-cache capsule (to use on your own micro-cache), and a couple of hydro-cache buttons.
