Off Big Willow Trail in the 'Elephant Heads' area at 6420 ft el.
Cache is set next to one of the 'Elephant Head' white rock formations along the Big Willow Trail, above the East meets West cache. This particular White Elephant Head is an inviting climb for the small ones, and the views are pretty good.
The lower section of Big Willow trail, leading up to and beyond the overlook of 'East meets West', is steeper than many cachers like. It levels off in a group of spruces SW of the overlook, though. The trail has a nice morning shade, almost into 10 am in summer and even later in the fall, so it is one of the cooler low-elevation trails. But it is in the full sun in the afternoon! Pleasant or not, the trail is the way to get there. Under no circumstances your should cut straight.
There is year-round water at Little Willow waterfalls some half mile to the East from here.
As of 6/30/04, the original container has been replaced by a camo-painted, stenciled ammobox, with quite a bit of new swag including Cupcake Bear Cach-U-Nut and Boomerang TB, as well as more toys, trinkets, and useful things for outdoorsmen.
