Geocache Description:

Bear

I was walking my dog, Bear, through Riverfront park the other day looking for a spot to place a cache.

"Where should I put it, old boy?" I asked him.

Bear immediately trotted off the path to a medium sized pine tree and began sniffing around.

"No Bear", I said, "People don't like pine tree hides. Did you ever read a really appreciative log on a pine tree hide? Well, of course not, you're a dog. But you know what I mean."

Bear just looked at me.

"C'mon boy", I said, "let's go find a REAL place to hide a cache. You know, some place with a nice view, or some historical significance or something."

Bear sat down.

"But Bear", I argued, "we can't put a cache here. Pine trees are sappy, prickly, and just a real pain to hunt in. I don't want to do a pine tree cache!"

Bear wasn't listening. He was suddenly focused on a bee that was buzzing around nearby.

"Seriously boy, we need to find a better spot", I persisted.

Bear snapped at the bee, knocked it to the ground, and ate it.

"Now, really", I said, "where do you want to hide this cache buddy? You're a smart puppy, I KNOW you can do better than this."

Bear lifted his leg and watered the pine tree, as if to defiantly mark it as his territory.

"My sentiments exactly" I mumbled under my breath, but out loud I said "Fine. But YOU'RE the one hiding this cache, not me. I don't want anything to do with a lousy pine tree hide."

Bear laid down and yawned, waiting for me to place the cache.

So here it is, my stubborn dog's pine tree hide. Just remember - blame the dog, not me.

NOTE!! Bear requests that you close the cache container lid tightly to keep water out. Snap the lid on real tight the whole way around! Watch out for muggles too, especially at lunch time on nice days! Parking is available *under* I83, at N40º 15.038' W076º 52.367'. Cache is not accessible from the highway. This cache is in an often overlooked section of Riverfront Park, set aside for remembering lost loved ones. Take time to read some of the dedications that are all around you. Park hours are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
