One of the coolest "things" I have ever stumbled upon while hiking...A bit of a hike to get to but well worth it...What is this "Big Lizard" doing here? How did it get here? What was it used for?
Take Bridge Rd. in Rockville, go up the mesa road towards your left, not towards Grafton. This road is a bit rough but a car with decent clearance can make it.
Park at the pull off to your left at N 37 08.676 W 113 02.083.
If you are facing uphill a pointy hill will be towards your right, that's where you're going. When I found the "Big Lizard" I hiked up the wash to the left of the pointy hill and it wasn't that bad.
The hike is relatively short but you have to go up a hill or two. Facing the pointy hill towards your right downhill will be a dirt road that looks like it leads toward where you want to go, it does not. DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD, especially with a car or a truck for that matter. The road is extremely rough, washed out, missing a couple of bridges and you will NOT make it. It also winds around to private property so please do not trespass in this area. The best way to go is over the pointy hill or up the wash to the left.
