Fort Snelling State Park
Fort Snelling State Park is located at the confluence of the
Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers. The Dakota called this place
Ha-Ha Mdo-Te which translates to "junction of two rivers" and from
which the town of Mendota got its name. The park opened in 1962 to
conserve open space and wildlife in the metropolitan area. There
are 18 miles of cross-country skiing trails, 18 miles of hiking
trails, 5 miles of biking trails, golf and canoe rentals,
picnicking, fishing, boating, and swimming. The Thomas C. Savage
visitor center offers exhibits and interactives as well as a
giftshop and restrooms.There is a daily entrance fee of $7.00 or an
annual pass for $25.00

Mississippi River Geocache: Remnants
This cache is located just off the bike/pedestrian trail which
leads from the historic Fort Snelling area to Fort Snelling State
Park and beyond. If you follow the bike/pedestrian trail SW, there
is a footpath that leads down to the Thomas Savage Visitor Center
and the S. Axon Von Bergen Trail.
The Mississippi River Geocache is a series of caches placed
within the Mississippi National
River and Recreation Area, a 72-mile stretch of the Mississippi
River from the cities of Dayton and Ramsey in the north to just
south of Hastings, Minnesota.
