Congratulations to IVHS76 1st to find. bottledump & cwkfalls was 2nd to find.

This is an awesome drive and location! This area is used quite a bit by hangliders. To reach the cache you will drive a bit off the main highway west of Jacksonville. You will find the road you need to take at another great cache, Things in the Sky (GCHTWX). There are other roads and ways to approach this cache. We approached this way and is a great way to get another cache along the way. A twofer so to speak!
About half of the road up is paved, then converts to dirt and narrow. We had a 4x4 going in and was very smooth. Should be accessible easily by most cars. Once you get to the top you will have to do some hiking then slight bushwacking and then scrambling. At the top you are just under 4000 feet in elevation. So you can imagine this may not be accessible in the winter time.
There is a huge parking pad up at the top which is also one of the launching points for the hangliders. I wanted to hide the cache in a spot that wouldn't get muggled, I think you will find that I found one.
I did not see any poison oak in the area, but I imagine there is some. I saw some leafless plants on my journey up. Technu is a caching must anyways. The thorny plants I saw up there were lots of holly, not any blackberries. Also might beware when searching of that critter who crawls on his belly and makes noise with his tail, when you get to close to them. I didn't see any, but just wanted to put the heads-up out there. Lastly, you can tell by the pictures the views up here are incredible! Be sure to bring, binoculars, camera and a lunch to enjoy. And if your lucky you may time it just right and be entertained by people jumping off the mountain attached to giant kites!
