Otaki Forks provides a great range of walks from short walks to day trips and longer tramps. This cache is situated near the start of the track up to Field Hut, or alternatively on the Arcus Loop, easily accessed across the swingbridge from the parking area.
Even from here, you begin to get great views of the surrounding Tararua Ranges. The track at this point is well formed and easily accessible.
The Boelle Flat parking/picnic area is a good place to start, with plenty of parking and grassed areas for picnics, as well as an information board.
Ensure you have suitable footwear and some extra clothing, plus sunscreen and water if you are just doing the Arcus Loop. If heading on up to Field Hut and beyond, good tramping gear is essential.
The cache is situated near the junction, at which point you can decide how far or long you feel like walking.
