How Geocaching Works
This cache is along the Superior Trail about 1.5 - 2 miles from the County Road 4 trailhead near Beaver Bay. Hike is a steady incline over some rocky terrain to an elevation of about 1200 ft. Wear hiking boots!
The Superior Trail is a backpackers paradise and this segment takes the cache finder to the Fault Line Ridge. Once at the cache site you are treated to a wonderful panorama of the Beaver River valley, the Minnesota interior and lake Superior to the East. Listen, and you can hear the roar of Glen Avon Falls and when the leaves are down you can see them.
Cache itself is a lock and lock rubbermaid container filled with items that a backpacker might find useful. If trading items, give some thought to who might find this one, be creative, and think of what someone may have forgotten or may need in the back country i.e. small bottles of bug spray, hand soap, handi wipes, multi-tools etc... Cache is on cliff side of trail, but there is no need to go dangerously close to the edge.
