Camp Concordia WWII POW Camp
Concordia, KS
It is possible to drive to this one.
This camp was used between July 1943 til November 1945 and
housed 4000 German POWS. Once part of General Erwin Rommel's elite
"Afrika Korps," the soldiers were brought to the United States on
allied troop ships and then sent west by train to Kansas.
There is not much left of the camp just a couple of towers and a
few of the buildings in the area were actually ones from the
camp.
Drive abit further east of the coordinates posted and read the
sign.
To verify that you have found this cache and claim credit for
a find, visit the site and then, Email me the number of
American Guards there. Please don't post it on the web site.

Time: 8:30 am. Temp: -1. Windchill: -12...and I need a cache! Thank goodness barondriver has placed a vitual around here to find! Had to have a mental break during another emergency run to Kearney, and this one worked perfectly. Had known there was a POW camp around here somewhere, and now we know where it is/was. Made a quick and easy find of the answers to the question, as no other sane person was out in the bitter cold this morning. Signed the visitor's log at GZ, took a couple of quick pics, couldn't roll the window up fast enough, then back on the road north into the storm. Brrrr!!!!!! Thanks for another great virtual!
