Geocache Description:

Portugal has coast line of about 800Km. Along this line several castles were built to defend the border. This cache is placed in one of this castles.

Viana do Castelo is a nice village facing the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches are simply incredible. The spot where this cache is hidden is very beautiful and it deserves some visits from geocachers.

Try to go there in a sunny day.
You can take the car to 20 meters from the cache. You can park it around:

The cache is a white plastic box container (15cm x 10cm) and it contains:
- a pen
- a logbook
- a 1 peseta spanish coin (before the euro)
- a io-io
- a skin piece of the biggest Amazonia fish

For better protection the cache is inside a black plastic bag.

You can take the kids with you. The place is good to hike by the sea, or to bike, or just to inspect the coast line: lots of sea pools, some natural and some artificial.

From the coordinates if you look South, you can spot among the rocks some stone walls that go towards inside the sea. These walls serve as footpaths to access some special sea pools where lobsters are farmed. Take some time and go along one of this. Kids normally enjoy these rides. (The tide should not be too hight in order to be possible to walk on these footpaths).

Enjoy the hunt.

After the hunt you can take the car and follow the trail that is going along the coastline towards North. You will pass along some windmills that are rented for rural turism and some beautiful rocky beaches almost deserted.
