Modern Forestry #3 - Plogfoten Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Ingabo: Today Heimdall and myself went for a maintenance trip in this area. Soon we decided rather to archive than to maintain the caches.

Idag tog Heimdall och jag en liten promenad i området med tanken att göra vid alla burkarna. Mycket snart bestämde vi oss istället för att arkivera hela serien.

Geocache Description:

For the daring ones only but also with a view.

This cache series is a tribute to nature as it was before rational, profit only driven forestry became the dominating way of working.
The area called Paradiset (Paradise) is extending from the small community Partille in the south up to the main road numbered 190 in the north. There is no living area in the central parts of Paradiset making it ideal for an undisturbed stroll. Unfortunately this area has also partly been used as a dump by people who have access to the track not necessarily increasing the attractivity to explore the Paradise.

The walking path Bohusleden crosses some of the most junk covered areas here making this part of even less interest to nature lovers.

A gravel track from Lexbydalsvägen to Surketjärn divides the area in two. Modern forestry uses this track for exploitation but it is closed by a road barrier for all other traffic, except two wheelers.

The woods here are around 100 years old why a carefull forresting is motivated. Lots of wetlands around the many small lakes and an elevated terrain creates a nice landscape.

You can argue around what is spoiling of nature and what is not but question is if this is the future woods you want to walk in ?

Yes, it will heal and growth start again but the scars in the ground will remain and be well visible for 100 years or more.

Is this situation unique ? No, absolutely not. It is more or less a standard condition when forresting in large scale.

Why hide a cache here then if the area is devastated ? I hope you will find some time for reflection at the border of this small lake.

The cache is placed in a way making it hard to get at but still very obvious where it is hidden. The box is flat and of 0,4 litre volume.

WARNING !! DANGEROUS AREA !! PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH THIS CACHE IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE OF HOW TO TAKE IT IN AN ABSOLUTELY SECURE WAY !!!

The box contains the usual stuff and some small trading items only including some expired coins. Please hide it exactly as you found it !

Car access to the area is available both from Partille and by Lexbydal (where Bohusleden crosses the road). Which ever approach you choose you will have to take a small stroll.

Have a good look at the inner parts of this area too, there are some nice small lakes around where you can take a small break.

Good Luck ! // Ingabo
