Geocache Description:

Hidden in Huddy Park in downtown Toms River. I decided Toms River could use a few more caches. Our first hide.

In Huddy Park is a replica of the old fort that guarded the Toms River. The original fort was up on the hill near Robbins Street. The British came in 1782 and burned the fort, along with the entire village of Toms River. Huddy was captured and eventually hanged.

Not many people know about the 'battle' here....perhaps it's better that way, since we got the tar beat out of us. Make sure to read the signs and check out the fort.

The parking for Huddy Park is metered except on Sundays. There is also a small waterfront park just down the street on Rt. 166 that's free.
Please plan your visit, since in the summer there are weekend events that take place here. While the Chili Cook-Off, Ice Cream Festival, Civil War show, and whatever else are cool to go to, they're not times you want to be looking for this cache.
