Lackawanna Railroad Traditional Cache
BIGnsmallG: So in our search for the cache, which was very minimal because there was a tent set up that it appeared as if someone was living in. We decided to hightail it out of there bc we didn't want to get involved with whatever was in the tent. We played it safe and social distanced. The whole area is overgrown with brush and weeds.

Delaware, Lackawanna and Western was created in 1849 to connect the rich anthracite coalfields of the Lackawanna Valley of Pennsylvania to northern New Jersey. A hurricane in 1955 knocked the railroad out of operation for a month, with the resulting financial difficulties forcing it to merge with the Erie Railroad in 1960 to form the Erie Lackawanna Railroad.
This area of the rail yard is known as "The Hump." Cars go over "the hump" as they are sorted. You may see cars rolling free without an engine as they are sorted based on their final destination. Locations could include St. Louis, Chicago, Montreal, and Atlanta, etc... You can and may hear a high pitch squealing from the brakes. Congratulations on the joint FTF, jpiger and LVSciGuy!!
