Geocache Description:

An easy find in Ellis Pond Park, one of our favorite neighborhood places to visit.

From Washington Native Plant Society:
"Ellis Pond Park is a 2.5-acre neighborhood park/wetland in the center of Mercer Island. The pond comprises about one-fifth of the park area. It is fed by a small spring and storm water runoff, so its size varies throughout the year depending on rainfall. Many native trees, shrubs and perennials surround the pond, which is a summer home for wood ducks as well as year-round home for mallards."

From Mercer Island Heritage by Judy Gellatly:
"Close to the center of the Island, on the upland where no such thing would be expected, lies little Ellis Pond. The retreating ice must have scoured out its small bowl, and perpetual springs must feed it; the level of the pond changes dramatically with the rainfall, but it is always there."

You are looking for a lock-n-lock container. Be stealthy because this is a very popular park especially in the summer.

June 2007.
Replaced the cache and moved to a new spot in the park.
