Geocache Description:

Another virtual cache, perfect for the Maui geo-vacationer! Note: You must visit this location -- armchair and sofa cachers need not apply.

These coordinates will take you to an historical site that is well worth visiting. As you pull off the highway, take an immediate left to reach the public beach access parking area, which will be on the right about 50 yds in. Please don't leave your car in the parking lot for the private property, especially if an event is taking place. Public parking at the beach access point is limited, but you shouldn't have any problems. You will be rewarded with a nice coastal spot that is perfect for picnicking and snorkeling. In order to log this as a find, email me the answers to the following questions:

  • What is the number of this Historical Site?
  • When was this first built?
  • By whom was this build?
An additional bonus: locate the surveyors benchmark(s) nearby and log them as a find in the Benchmark Hunting section of geocaching.com!

Caution: There have been reports of cars being broken into when parked in this area. Please use common sense by not leaving any valuables in your car and being sure to lock your doors.

Note: Please do NOT post spoiler pictures of the informational sign in your log, nor the answers themselves. Photos or logs will be deleted. Mahalo!

Update 15 Nov 2005: I hate to be a stickler here, but some folks have been logging this as a find without emailing me the required info. Some say they'll send me the email in their log, but I never receive it. Even after I send a reminder email to them using the email link in their profile, I don't receive any response. So from here on out -- these are the rules. No more "I'll email you the answers when I get home". I will expect an email (using the link in my profile) with the answers to the questions within moments (OK, an hour) of receiving notification that you've logged the cache. If you're in a place where you can log the cache online, then you can take time to click the mouse a few more times and email me the answers immediately. If for some strange reason your answer email doesn't come through, I will do you the courtesy of sending one reminder email using the link in your gc.com profile. It is up to you to make sure your email link is up to date. If I don't receive a reply with the answers, your log will be deleted. Mahalo for playing fairly!
